Crazy for Zhu Zhu Pets - Review and Giveaway!

Look no further, we've found the "It" toy for this holiday season...Zhu Zhu Pets!

If you're unfamiliar with this new line of toys, a Zhu Zhu Pet is a super-cute battery-operated hamster. It is sold by itself, with a plethora of accessories and habitats available to purchase separately.

We hosted a Zhu Zhu Pets party for all of our little neighbor friends and they had the best time! We had the entire hamster habitrail set up and the kids got to choose a hamster of their own to play with and take home. I cannot begin to tell you how excited they were. The Zhu Zhu Pets were a surprise - neither the parents or the kids knew they were going to be a part of the party - and when I told the kids about what we would be doing and that they would get to keep the hamsters, one of the moms said to me that her daughter goes crazy for the Zhu Zhu Pets commercials and has been asking for one since she first saw it, so this was going to make her day!

Of all the parts of the habitrail, the kids had the most fun with the car coming out of the garage. We have pergo flooring in our home, so these little hamsters just go and go. When we took one over to a neighbor's home, who has carpeting throughout, they still got around well, but certainly not as well as on the hard floor.

The kids played for hours and hours with their hamsters. They had four different hamsters they could pick from, each with their own personality and "quirks," just like the kids themselves! The girls in the group played house with the hamsters, since we had the bedroom/kitchen and bathroom as part of the habitrail, and, of course, leave it to the boys to start racing their hamsters!
When I first received the package that included all the hamsters and the entire habitrail, I was totally overwhelmed! There were so many things to put together! I put together a section or two each day so as not to overwhelm myself further, and my daughter (who got to preview the toys before the party) felt like she had a new adventure with her hamster each day. One day we just let one of the hamsters roam around the house, and I totally got a kick out of it. It would scurry around the house, "talking" to itself, managing its way out of a corner, and taking a nap. I took the habitrail apart before the party, and putting it back together a second time was not nearly as tricky as the first time.

The party was definitely a success. The kids couldn't have been happier, and neither could the parents. This low-maintenance toy makes for low-maintenance kids (they can entertain themselves with Zhu Zhu Pets endlessly)! The hamsters and all the accessories are currently being sold at Walmart, Toys R Us, and Amazon.
I'd like to keep the party going by offering one lucky reader a chance to win two Zhu Zhu Pets!
