Pantry Makeover with new Rubbermaid Modular Canisters: Review & Giveaway

Please just tell me I'm not alone...do you let your pantry get like this? There are a few things that really bother me about my situation here. There's no rhyme or reason, stuff gets pushed to the back and forgotten about, and most of it isn't sealed tightly to deter any ants or other no-good pantry pests should they come looking for food.
Using the new Rubbermaid Modular Canisters, I was energized to get the top cupboards of my pantry back under control. My main goal was to get everything I use for baking into an organized and convenient situation. You saw above what my pantry looked like, and now you can see what I was dealing with once everything came off the shelf!
After I wiped down the pantry, I threw out any expired items (yeah, there was stuff from 2008 in there, I'm embarrassed to say), and decided what to do with what was left. Most importantly, I wanted easy access to the items I used the most, and I wanted everything to have a container - no more open boxes or unsealed bags.

Once everythingwas given a permanent place, I made some really primitive labels (until I get around to ordering these) for the majority of the containers. I'm considering getting a second set of Rubbermaid Modular Canisters so that I can have all the containers in my pantry match! Plus, I like that the Modular Canisters can be grouped into whatever arrangement works best for the space you have (if your shelf space is shorter, you can simply rearrange them!).
Typical of Rubbermaid products, these are durable and airtight. Clean and sleek-looking, I also like that they have measurements on the side of the container so you can easily see how much of something you have. This set of four containers includes:

  • (1) 5-cup Container: Great for baking soda or powder, coffee, or crackers. I used it for chocolate chips!
  • (1) 10-cup Container: Great for rice, dried fruit, or granola. I used it for brown sugar!
  • (1) 16-cup Container: Great for sugar or cookies. I used it for Bisquick!
  • (1) 21-cup Container: Great for flour, cereal, or dried pasta. I used it for wheat flour!

When I do get a second set, I think I will use them for rice and pasta, as those are always tricky to store. In fact, I ended up tossing two packages of large pasta shells when I cleaned out the pantry today because the shells that were left in the box after the last use were not sealed tightly, and thus they were stale.

Are you feeling inspired?! This whole activity took me maybe an hour, so I know you can do it! And Rubbermaid is going to help along the way! I'm very pleased to be able to offer one lucky read a set of the new Rubbermaid Modular Canisters!

To enter, please leave a comment below telling me how Rubbermaid Modular Canisters will help solve your pantry crisis! Or, tell me if you have another unique intention for them! I'm interested to hear what you'd use them for.

This giveaway will end on the evening of 4/25 and a winner will be chosen at random using random.org. Winner will be notified via email and will have 48 hours to reply or a new winner will be chosen. Open to U.S. residents only.

These are awesome! In my pantry everything is just piled on top of each other. This would allow me to stack - not pile- pantry items. Thanks Rubbermaid!

This would solve a lot! I currently have round canisters and they aren't very efficient. I didn't know what I was thinking when I purchased them a couple years ago. :)

Last night I was making room for baby food jars as our son is moving on to solids. I was amazed that I filled a garbage bag full of expired food that was burried in our overcrowded pantry (don't worry, it was all non-perishable...nothing was growing in there!!!)
I NEED to makeover my own pantry!!!

They don't sell these in my area yet. I could really use them in the non baking section(I already have bakery under control). My kids are constantly opening boxes or bags of snacks that make that portion of my cupboard look out of control.
